Singapore, 22 March 2017 – The Laurels 2017 is back, showcasing the best of local works and recognising the enormous talents behind these commercials.
Organised by Mediacorp, The Laurels is an annual award show that celebrates the works and contributions of advertisers, media and creative agencies in the media industry by Singapore audiences who cast their votes to support their favourite commercials on-air, online, on-print and outdoors.
There are two categories of awards:
(1) Public Voting Awards – Favourite Ads (TV, Radio, Print, Digital and Outdoor)
For the qualifying period of 1 January to 31 December 2016, advertisers with a minimum ad spend of $150,000 nett on Mediacorp television channels are eligible to submit entries for Favourite TV Ad. The minimum ad spend for all other Favourite Ad Awards are $50,000 nett on the respective Mediacorp media platforms.
This year, a new category, “Favourite Digital Campaign” is added to the public voting category, to embrace the rapid growth of online viewership and to shine the light on Mediacorp’s digital assets Toggle and Channel NewsAsia.
(2) Professional Awards
For the Professional Awards, no minimum ad spend is required for submission of Best Transmedia Campaign. However, the campaign must have run on a minimum of two media platforms which include Mediacorp television channels, radio stations, print publications, digital network and Out-Of-Home media. Entries conceptualised locally for the Public Voting Awards will automatically qualify for Best Homegrown Award while entries with the highest score from the judges across the board will win the Best of Show.
Entry submissions for the Public Voting Awards and Best Transmedia Campaign start today and end 15 April 2017. These will be assessed by an esteemed jury panel which comprises creative and marketing veterans led by Jury President, Tay Guan Hin, Global Executive Creative Director from J. Walter Thompson. Public voting of the shortlisted finalists will take place from 1 to 30 June 2017. Results for both the Public Voting Awards and the Professional Awards will be announced at the Awards Show on 14 July 2017.
Winning advertisers and finalists of each of the Awards will win bonus media credits with Mediacorp, while the media agency and creative agency of the Best Homegrown Award and Best of Show will be awarded $5,000 cash each.
