Singapore, 18 February 2016 – Mediacorp’s GOLD 905, is happy to announce new plans to continue its “feel good” groove for listeners.
From Monday 22nd February, the station will have a refreshed line-up with new pairings and programmes, starting with the morning show.
Mike Kasem and Vernetta Lopez will kick off the mornings, and share their personal chemistry with listeners to give them a “feel good” start to the day. On her return to the morning show, Vernetta said "I'm happy to be back on the mornings. Mike and I go back a long way and we’re great friends. So come join us, fasten your seatbelts and use strong hairspray!"
The station will welcome popular Producer-Presenter, William Xavier (Mr X). Previously with Mediacorp’s 938LIVE, Mr X will join GOLD 905 and host the night show – Nite Flite – as part of the station’s moves to better serve listeners. “It’s a homecoming of sorts... re-connecting with GOLD 905 listeners. Music has always been my first love, but I’m still a news junkie and am happy to bring a topical sensibility to my show. Come fly with me...8pm Weeknights,” said Mr X.
Other changes include the drive time belt in the evening, with Jamie Yeo, moving from the afternoons, to keep you company on Homestretch from 5pm to 8pm.
Explaining the changes, Programming head Erina Cook said, “We are continuously shaping GOLD 905’s programmes to stay engaged with our audience. I’m confident that our discerning listeners from their 40s will welcome the refreshing “feel-good” experience these new plans offer. Starting from Monday, a change up in DJs line-up and weekend programmes curated to put the groove in their hearts. Then in March, viewers can look forward to seeing GOLD 905 on Channel 5 through weekly snippets, giving them a quick guide on the popular places to go and things to do. Stay tuned.”
Joe Augustin, from The Mike & Joe Xperiment, will leave Mediacorp on 20 February. Joe re-joined Mediacorp’s Lush 99.5FM in August 2011, moved to CLASS 95 in August 2013 and eventually on GOLD 905 in March 2015. “I love radio and this past year I have loved the GOLD 905 audience. I will miss them both” said Joe.
Ms Cook adds, “It has been a fulfilling year with Joe on GOLD 905’s morning show and we wish him the very best for the future.”
